Afternoon Class

12:30 PM to 4:30 PM

Not a morning person? No problem!

12:20 PM – 12:30 PM – Drop-Off / Arrival

Our doors unlock at 12:20 PM. Opening circle time begins at 12:45 PM so this gives parents a 25 minute drop-off window.

12:30 PM – 12:45 PM – Free Play

We feel it’s important to give our little monsters some time to get reaquainted with their friends and get comfortable before settling in for a new day. The first 15 minutes of each class are reserved for free play.

12:45 PM – 1:00 PM – Opening Circle Time (Yoga, Exercise & Music)

Opening circle time is where we gather the students for the first time at the beginning of class. Depending on the day, opening circle time will feature yoga or exercise, music, or a conversation relating to the current theme.

1:00 PM – 1:30 PM – Math, Numbers, Geometry

Counting and recognizing numbers and shapes using many creative play-based methods.

1:30 PM – 2:30 PM – Outdoor Play @ Memorial South Park

There’s a giant playground, many open fields, a few forested areas, a duck pond, soccer field, race track, public washrooms and more, all surrounded by a friendly and welcoming neighborhood. Memorial South Park offers 30 acres and lots of opportunity for our little monsters to get acquainted with nature.

Our outdoor play time always occurs in a controlled environment. Our staff follow strict safety guidelines to ensure our little monsters leave our facility and return safely in an organized, calm and efficient manor.

2:30 PM  – 3:00 PM – Snack Time

We offer fresh and healthy snacks every class and pay very close attention to each child’s preferences and allergies. We provide fruits, vegetables, dairy, grains, cereals and crackers on an ever-changing menu. We do not serve nuts or meat.

3:00 PM – 3:30 PM – Science, Nature & Social Studies

We wash our hands before and after snacks, then it’s time to learn about the world! Our curriculum is expressed in many different themes throughout each month, most lasting an entire week, where we introduce our little monsters to everything we can about science, nature, human society and various cultures from around the world.

3:30 PM – 4:00 PM – Story Time / Reading & Writing

Who doesn’t love a good story? Stories help our little monsters begin to associate sounds with the letters on the page. Recognition of the alphabet leads to spelling and then writing. We dedicate at least one half-hour each class to improving our students’ reading and writing abilities.

4:00 PM – 4:15 PM – Closing Circle Time (Story Time & Discussion)

Once we’ve settled in after returning from outdoors, we either gather in the circle time area for a discussion or go to the reading area for story time. Both the story and the discussion will involve the current theme.

4:15 AM – 4:30 PM – Clean Up Time

We believe it’s important for our little monsters to learn the value of cleaning up their own mess. We find that most of them are happy to contribute once given this classroom responsibility. Then, it’s time to get ready to go home!

Around this time, parents will start arriving to take their children. Most days our little monsters will spend about 5 minutes putting away toys before they begin preparing for departure 5 to 10 minutes before noon.

4:30 PM – Pick-Up / Departure

Time to go home and enjoy the evening!

COVID-19 POLICY

We are implementing all control measures established by the The BC Centre for Disease Control. This includes ongoing sanitization of our facility and an education campaign to teach your little monster the importance of washing their hands and covering their mouths before coughing or sneezing.
